About us

Supporting healthy children across NSW

The NSW government aims to reduce overweight and obesity rates of NSW children. As part of this commitment, and using a comprehensive evidence-based approach, we’re focusing on four areas:

  1. Statewide programs in childcare centres, schools and community settings, such as Go4Fun, Crunch & Sip, Munch & Move, Live Life Well @ School.
  2. Clinical advice and routine service delivery, with increased regular checks of height and weight, plus advice and referrals. New services in clinical settings have also been established for families, pregnant women and parents of young children.
  3. Education and information, through our Healthy Eating Active Living website which has tools and tips for making healthy changes.
  4. Food and the built environment, where we work to increase healthy food and drink choices in health facilities, school canteens and sport venues, and conduct trials such as sugar labelling and offering chilled water as an alternative to other drinks.

Go4Fun has been helping people live healthier lives in NSW since 2011, when it was adapted from the UK’s ‘Mind, Exercise, Nutrition…Do it!‘ (MEND) program. Go4Fun has been adapted to suit Australian families to help children and parents make healthier lifestyle changes.

The Better Health Company was also involved in designing and developing the original program for Australian communities, and helps us run the program throughout NSW.

Go4Fun is funded by the NSW Ministry of Health under the NSW Healthy Children Initiative.
